Cool. Seems like the original holds up the best, stylistically that is. Fun to hear how it gets more spare as the decades go by.

One of my (only in regard to myself) claims to fame was a jam session I was at, as a singer!?!?!?!? This woman's house in Long Beach. She had a couple guitar amps up around her ceiling that she sang through. I was hanging out with a bass player friend and went along and someone from Commander Cody (this was after the band broke up, I think) was there. The woman whose house this was at and I sang.

So close, yet so far. I mostly jammed with people who, in turn, played with famous people. But there were thousands of guys like me around.

I don't think we played Hot Rod Lincoln that day, though.

(I still use the line from that Walsh tune, "I can't complain, but sometimes I still do.")
