3)I am very close to having 100 favorites on MeFi. This may be the closest I'll ever come to an actual accomplishment.

1) The free concert by Shaggy last night at the Kennedy Center was much fun.
2) The free concert by Wyclef Jean last night at the Kennedy Center was more fun, especially when he did a rap with the President of Haiti, got a little 4-year-old kid to do Shakira’s part in "Hips Don’t Lie," and did an awesome version of "Redemption Song."
3) The free concert by Jimmy Cliff last night at the Kennedy Center was unbelievably amazing. "Many Rivers to Cross"? "I Can See Clearly Now"? Awwww, yeah. His was a surprise, unbilled appearance. Jimmy Cliff!

1) The stupid birds here appear to have decided to wake up an extra twenty minutes earlier today in preparation for the longest day of the year coming up.
2) Not totally shocked that the cost of mailing a letter overseas went up given the recent rate increase at USPS, but pleasantly surprised to discover the very lovely design of the airmail stamp here.
3) My library requests came in and upon arriving home someone other than me actually expressed interest in reading them!

1) Day 4 of migraine: hurtiness diminishing, although I probably shouldn’t have eaten that ice-cream.
2) A colleague’s absence by way of an ill-defined stress-reated illness has landed me with attending an hour-long meeting with some people I don’t know about some stuff I know next to nothing about.
3) I mailed a card to my niece this morning: it’s her birthday next week. She was born on the same day I learned my college degree results, seventeen years ago.

1. The complainant from hell is once again starting to make my life a misery.

2. My sister is going from bad to worse, she said she tried to put a plastic bag over her head today. (I do not know if this was just drama on her part or not. She is a drama queen.) She is going to the doctor's tomorrow. I told her that if she does not, people will intervene.

3. The rest of this afternoon is taken up by a team meeting, in which nothing will be decided or resolved.

1. my husband will be home in about 10 more days. Woweekazowiee! I'm missing him. Also, they'll shoot for a few more days in Athens after returning, then will be going to NYC for a few days in July or August to finish up shooting... maybe I hook him up with some mefite/mechazens for a couple of hours some night while he's there?

2. hot. so hot. getting hotter. the heat is hot.

3. I've done nothing, at all. at all. not. I may never do anything again.

1) My sister's new laptop is here, now I get to drive to 3 hours on the weekend to drop it off. I don't mind though, I like driving.

2) The confocal microscope is down AGAIN for the 7th time in 6 months. Something is very wrong. Guelph has three they don't use, including the oh-so beautiful SP5, and we have one, an old-assed SP2, that's always in use. There's something wrong with that too. Now we might have to start going to Guelph (4+ hrs away) to take pictures.

3) It is gorgeous outside, I wish it could be some beautiful all the time.

1. I finally gathered up all my recently-ex-boyfriend's stuff that was still at my place, put it in a bag, and dropped it off at his workplace early this morning, scurrying in and out at high speed to keep from running into him.

2. Stressing about the drop-off, and general breakup sadness, kept me awake much of the night, but the goddamned birds launching into full squwak at 4 a.m. did not help. So I am woozy with tiredness today. (How the hell do you spell that? "Sqwak"? "Squawak?" Arrggh.)

3. I wish I could send taz the cool front that blew through here yesterday. And I wish I could send essexjan--god, I don't know what would help. Sympathy and good thoughts and wishes already en route, though.

The pinkeye and upper respiratory flared up again this morning--contrary to what was posted on askme, one can NOT get antibiotic drops without a prescription in NYC-- and I won't be able to see the doctor until Thursday. The homeopathic eyedrops specifically say they aren't meant for my symptoms (it's related to the sinus infection, so lots of green goop).

The spoiled prince upstairs is leaving in August and someone well-known in publishing bought the place. Hmmm....

No info from my father about the caregiver; I'm considering calling my uncle, but I'm pissed off at him too.

1. I have a headache that I can't shake.
2. I took the day off from work to do other work. At least it's rainy out so I'm not tempted to blow it off and go outside.
3. There is some sort of noisy construction going on next door. Noisy construction + headache + work that requires some thought = crabby amro.

1. The pull tab on my kippered herring can broke off, and now I don't have anything to eat for lunch. The stench wafting up from the can makes me think it probably wasn't a good idea to try to eat kippered herrings in an office to begin with.

2. I have the Backyardigans "Tyrone the Mailman" song stuck in my head. ("I never fail to deliver the mail").

3. It's a beautiful day and I wish I was at the zoo with my son looking at monkeys.

1. The finger I smashed a week ago seems like it's broken, but I am putting off getting it looked at until after Kona because I WILL surf there, and can't in a cast. Never broken any bones, so don't know how it's supposed to feel. I can move it, some. Still swollen and sore, though.

2. Went to a yoga class last night for the first time in a LONG time. It felt great and jeebus I am stiff!

3. Decided to allow Daughter to take my Silver Anniversary Stratocaster to girls' rock camp in Portland next week. She is doing guitar this time (bass last year) and although they have instruments there, this guitar is beautiful and very well set up. I hope it returns in one piece.

1. I have nothing to do. Classes are done and we finished grading the English regents. Almost 90% of my students passed, half with 80s and 90s... Woohoo! (Overall, the school average is only about 65%, though... where's my bonus? : )

2. I've almost finished reading Perv -- A Love Story, by Jerry Stahl. Good book, but I'm at a rathering harrowing part in the story and part of me's afraid to read on.

3. Rain is pleasant to watch.

1. My puppy is laying on top of me and just burped in her sleep.
2. Still stranded in my house, car-less. GRRR.
3. Got a new client. It's the most random but fun project, I'm trying to design textiles for bedding to be sold in Latin America. Someday people in Paraguay and Argentina will be sleeping on the funky fabric patterns I'm making up today. I think that's super cool so I'm happy to be loving my job again. I haven't enjoyed it this much in almost 2 years, so it's a huge relief. Hating your job really sucks. I'm thankful to be having fun right now.

1. I was going to call my sister but have decided to wait until tomorrow, after she's seen the doctor. I am neither cruel nor unsympathetic to her position but I find it hard to care, really, for reasons I won't go into here.

2. I just worked out and can really feel it across my shoulders and my heart is beating strongly.

3. I'm going to jump in my lovely new power shower and turn the hot spray on hard over my back and shoulders.

I empathize with the "neither cruel nor unsympathetic" but "finding it hard to care" part, essexjan... one of my sisters (the non-religious one) has been on a spiral of self-destruction/depression for decades. Only so much you can allow a sibling's problems to pull you down without letting them take you down too. Hang in there & keep your head up.

1. We have a new boss who's starting July 9. She just came to the staff meeting. I am dubious. I am afraid I may be looking for a new job in the not too distant future. This bites.

2. I hate my stapler. At least if I get a new job I will get a new stapler.

3. There's been no light in my kitchen since the weird electrical thing where 1/3 of the power went out mysteriously. But I'm soooo tired of calling the landlord for weird malfunctions and I just don't feel like dealing with it.

The homeopathic eyedrops specifically say they aren't meant for my symptoms (it's related to the sinus infection, so lots of green goop).

ZOMG, we have the same thing! (Those who aren't suffering this fearful pestilence may wish to skip the next bit.)

Sinus infection, related bacterial conjunctivitis, upper airway infection. Unbelievable quantities of green snot and crap being coughed up. Eyes that look like I've contracted the zombie virus from 28 Days Later. Waking up three times a night with my lids glued shut with dried ooze. On antibiotics now; have missed five days of work in the last two weeks.

Interestingly enough, the only other person I know who has this is a friend who lives in North Carolina who contracted it from a Californian woman she recently met in France. I know her through the internets, so I'm getting a little Web moment here, though not as warm and fuzzy as one might hope. More of a commiseratory, bring out your dead sort of thing. Or not. The feverish delerium bit is kind of crazy too.

I'm going back to bed now, I think.

Oh yeah:

2. My son just got an awesome new phone, so I inherit his old one, making me finally succumb to cell phone ownership in this year of 2007;

3. I'm reading His Dark Materials for the first time (in its entirety; I read The Golden Compass years ago, but never read the other two). The movie's coming out this Christmas, and I can hardly wait for people to run out and buy the books for their kids under the impression that it's only a great adventure story set in a fantasy world, and then finding out belatedly what those books are really about. I can imagine the heads exploding all through Middle America already.

1. Being woken by a kitten, who hasn't had my attention for all of six hours, kissing me and stroking my face with loving purring curiosity dispels all bad dreams and makes the mornings delicious.

2. Listening to choice cuts from yesterdays music whil finishing up computer things is casually stimulating.

1. GD neighborhood kids have started setting off fireworks daily/nightly. The dogs DO NOT WANT.
2. I lost three pounds last week. (I'm guessing the daily 3-5 mile dog walks are responsible since I'm quite sure my eating habits are sucking lately.)
3. I got a new pair of shoes over the weekend. Casual not-quite-sneakers...they have criss crossy elastic bits and they use velcro fasteners. Specifically purchased so that Lulu would not have access to shoestrings. I AM SMARTER THAN YOU, DOG.*

Every item on my list is dog related. Five years ago that would have bothered me but I'm so thankful that my life is pretty much drama free and so taken with Binky and Lulu that I do not care if I've become a silly "lookatmydogs" person. SUCK IT, HATERS.

* - Lulu remains much more sneaky/crafty/plotting than I am, though.
