Serenity/Joss Whedon Fan? [More:]Don't miss Tehanu's FPP over at metafilter...

I'm totally excited, I'm not sure i can go yet, but at the least I'm going to watch it at home...
Yes, I'm enough of a fan I have three pets named after characters from the movie/series. Too bad it's this weekend and in Vancouver. It would have been to see Serenity on the big screen again.

Oy! I saw the post and immediately checked the LA options. There's a showing out in Pasadena...the same night that we're going out with some old friends. Dammit! Everything always happens on the same night!

Thanks for posting, Schyler. I can't go, and the irony is that it's because I'll be at my sister's wedding, and she's the one who got me hooked on Firefly. Heh.

The obvious solution, Fuzz, is to take the old friends with you to the screening and turn them into fans.

The Coolidge Corner Theater is showing Serenity midnight on Saturday! I can't wait!

It's definitely a thought, but there's some implication that they had actual, you know, planz'n'stuff...

So we'll see.

I'm going to Bellingham that day. I'd like to learn more about that charity, though.

At least we got to see it in the theater during its original run.
I went with a group of Firefly geeks on opening day. My GF at the time custom printed t-shirts for the occasion. A grand time was had by all.

You youngsters growing up near Anchorage have had it too easy. When I was a kid we had to haul our imported cultural events uphill, in the snow, *both ways*. Even then, films were shown three to six months after everyone down south had seen it. Our only TV station broadcast all network shows (including national news programs) exactly a week late; tapes from Seattle stations were brought up on the barge. And bands? I remember when some people thought it was a big deal that Nazareth (ugh!) came to town, a decade after their popularity.

I grew up in Homer, dear DC. Only television we had for many years was PBS; Sesame Street came on at 10am and 3pm every weekday, Bob Ross and Sewing With Nancy on Saturdays. And people wonder why I know so much Sesame Street trivia.
