It's a beautiful day! [More:]
For some strange reason I woke at 6 AM today (as opposed to 9 or 10...) and lo and behold the wall of clouds had crumbled, the sky was blue, the sun was shining, the birds were chirping. I went a little camera nuts at the first sight of blue sky and sunshine that I've seen since buying the darned thing.

But best of all.... it's Friday.

Today is going to be a good day.
Where are you, CitrusFreak?

It's beautiful here, too (June, Greece - duh), if maybe slightly overwarm, but I've lapsed into this strange lethargy since moving to Athens, and haven't managed to shoot any photos at all (and, gah! - I missed shooting the gloriosity of spring bloomage in my neighborhood, that was really pretty amazing), or actually do pretty much... anything. Maybe it's a recovery period from the stress of the pre-move months, I don't know.

In Sweden we’ve had something of a heatwave, with two straight weeks of beautiful sunny days: today has brought grey skies & rain, which, after a warm, dry spell, is just a different kind of beautiful.

I'm in Rhode Island! Woo East Coast!

We had a crappy storm over the ocean that was muddling up our weather. Clouds and rain were coming from East to West (as opposed to following the jet stream and coming West to East as usual).

There will always be another spring, taz, so just remember to get up off your rear next year!

That sounds wonderful misteraitch. Someone remind me to travel Europe at some point in my life...

You know, I hate to be a complainer - especially when I'm comparing a certain awesome to, maybe, a slightly less awesome awesomeness... But the thing that always just started my day with a major amount of joy was my old view of the mountain and the dawn. I just used to be so damn happy to see whatever was in the sky at 6 a.m. - whispy clouds with their orangepink halos, deep violet and black thunderclouds, the velvetdarkblue predawn cloudless skies with a few glittery stars still out clubbing it up. I really, really miss my morning sky... and maybe I'm getting old, that certain changes of routine affect me more than I think they should. boo.

I know what you mean, taz. I used to live in a built-up area, all the houses looked the same, it was soul-crushing. Then I moved here, 11 years ago now, and every single time I come down the hill on my way home and see the plain opening up and the forest next to it, it lifts my heart. Every time.

It's a beatiful day here, grey and cool; last night I was in the office 'til 8:30 working on a problem project, but I got the major kinks out before going home, so I could finally sleep well. Then again, if I hadn't been late coming home, I wouldn't have been there to help a pregnant lady get her two-year old's stroller down the subway stairs. A bowl of split pea soup, a BLT, and sixty pages of The Three Musketeers later, I fell into navy blue and purple slumber until this morning.

Speaking of Sweden, misteraitch, my brother and I've been musing about taking a two-week tour of Sweden to go see live music: Scandinavia is keeping the flame of rock and roll alive for the rest of the world right now -- all the best rock (not just Turbonegro-style metal, but stuff like Mando Diao too) is coming out of Sweden and its neighbors, and the old bastions of rock, the US and UK, are dormant at best. It would be great to go on a tour, see eight or so shows in a couple weeks in Gothenburg, Malmö, Stockholm, Uppsala and I dunno where else; we'll rekindle the rock flame and bring it back to the US, burn the sleeping rock giant's feet, wake rock up a little bit. Thank you, Sweden.

Plus, I gather it's a beautiful place.

Or maybe he had to get ready for and then go to work ;)
