wondered if anyone had asked this recently. i'm strangely fascinated by screenshots of people's desktops.

I just love our Standards Operating Environment that wipes any changes we make to the look of our machines every time we log in. Not. Although, having been on the other side of the support desk, I would have loved to be able to do this, so I do understand why it is so.

on preview - nice boat pic, small_ruminant! And richat that is a cool feeling Vegas shot. I should clean off ine, I s'pose. I feel very non zen-like after seeing the unclutter of all you guys'.

I swear it's not usually this clean -- I only cleaned up the desktop a few days ago.

Also, that's a Miro I'm using as my wallpaper. "Singing Fish," one of my favorites.

Here's my linux (simplyMEPIS) laptop. Much cleaner than my windows PC (mostly because it's new). The image is from last year's Burning Man, looking down a ladder from some sculpture. (I didn't take the photo -- I actually didn't go last year -- but I've got it on my desktop for inspiration to go this year).

I just use the standard Ubuntu gnome desktop, don't even change the orange-brown theme. The desktop is usually covered by windows so I don't really see it very often.

OK can someone tell me how to get a screenshot into a .jpeg file?

I know that key to push. I can put that image into a blank .doc or email, but that is the extent of my mad skilz in this area.
