Three unrelated things. [More:]

1. This is neat-o. (Reminds me of a hot but embarrasing dream I had once.)

2. Taz, can we get a link on the front page to the MeCha recipe page? It seems like over the last couple weeks, we've had threads with scrumptious dishes in them, and I want folks to compile them all!

3. Hope me: does anyone know if the Dell Axim 50V can easily download your Google calendar on the run?
1. The pigeons in my neighborhood are getting ballsy. They came up and perched on the edge of my porch and just...stared at me for 5 minutes. I think they're gearing up for an invasion.

2. I had leftover fried baccalao with garlic dip for lunch. It was tasty.

3. I really like Jameson's.

1. I hoodwinked IT and got a dual monitor going at work. It's quite nice, since I'm often doing Important Work like copy/pasting from one document to another.

2. I don't think I ever saw a complete episode of the Sopranos (and only 1 or 2 partial episodes) and I'm feeling a little bit left out of the big party.

3. My car started doing this weird thing. Sometimes, when I've just started the engine, the first press on the accelerator doesn't do anything for a few seconds. Then the engine seems to remember what it's there for, and after a small lurch as the gas kicks in, all goes back to normal.

1. I wish I had a sazerac.

2. Chicago in springtime is a ribbon of endless delights.

3. I have no idea how to be single.

1. A teacher whose room I was in last Friday informed me that she spikes her morning coffee with Kahlua (sp?).

2. Working on my new deck over the weekend, I smashed my right ring finger between a pier block I was placing and the corner of a brick that was there. The result was like smashing a plum or tomato. . the skin just ripped from the pressure. Not pretty, nor pleasant. It'll take a week or so to heal.

3. Last summer in NYC, Spring Awakening was playing in a church basement in Chelsea a block from where we were staying. We passed. Damn Damn Damn.

In that order, necessarily.

1. Have started the endless craigslisting for apartments.

2. 8 sleeps till California!

3. pH-ing solutions is the most boring thing to do in the lab.

It is. We took essexjan et al to Agnanti yesterday and gorged ourselves on tyrokafteri, taramosalata, shrimps kataifi and tons of other good stuff. It was delicious.

I can't believe I just wasted part of my life reading the Ralph Wiggum thread in Meta.

I cleaned my apartment this weekend and still didn't find my missing earrings.

I am going to Puerto Rico on Thursday. Woo-hoo!

1. I seem to have stumbled into a turf war between my company and a university, and while it's not my fault, my boss is backing me up, and it's not even that big a deal, I'm finding it unpleasant to have to deal with "You need to do X" / "No, we certainly don't have any need to to X for you" / "I think you've misunderstood, so we should escalate" emails.

2. I have become addicted to sparkling water. My office has it for us for free! It is the bestest thing ever.

3. I had very disturbing dreams last night, including one that woke me up because I thought someone was screaming in my ear. I hate those. A lot.

1. Joe - might be that your fuel filter is starting to clog. Either that or something is sticking and needs cleaning.

2. Finally back on my feet after throwing my back out Wednesday of last week and spending two full days on a heating pad, practically unable to walk.

3. Dunno if it's the weather or what (maybe Specklet's link), but am over-the-top randy today. Must. Jump. Mrs. tr33.

* You could give OggSync a try, I'm pretty sure it'll run on your Axim.

* If you use Outlook on your Axim, you could try this HOWTO.

* If you want commercial software to do it, you could try CompanionLink.

I don't use Google Calendar so I can't tell you which option is better.

1. Making all these nametags for the weekend big event is a real bore. And then I get all overwrought about them and wonder if I should do them over since now some will be ivory and some will be white and they're not all exactly.precisely.lined up and eeeeee, I'm overthinking a plate of beans!

2. I got an email from an old friend over the weekend that read very condescending/patronizing to me and it made me mad but he probably didn't mean it to sound like that. Or he's just an asshole. I think I will just pretend I never got it.

3. About 1/3 of my electricity mysteriously stopped working over the weekend. I wonder if it will work when I get home? The landlord came by this morning but he seemed just as baffled as I was. Huh.

Although my necktie is classy and garners compliments from all quarters, buttoning the top button on my dress shirt gives me a sore throat.

A detail from Vasily Vereshchagin's 1877 painting, "The Defeated: A Service for Those Killed in Battle" appears on the cover of the NYRB Classics edition of Tatyana Tolstaya's The Slynx, an enjoyable if macabre novel made better by familiarity with the Russian fairy tales collected by Aleksander Afanas'ev in the mid-Nineteenth Century.

I smiled so much yesterday I thought my face would crack.

1. It's hot but I still have to go outside to work in the yard.
2. I really like cinnamon ice cream. (I realize that may seem related to the hot weather but it's not really. I like it all year round.)
3. I am thinking about getting this ring - I just think it's neat looking and pretty while at the same time saying, "back off jackasses." I think it would make excellent tappy noises when the swoosh is palm-side, too.

danf, don't worry- Spring Awakening will be playing a long time! They're gearing up for a national tour, too.

1. Despite feeling incredibly unprepared, the conference today went very well. I still feel a little shabby next to ultra-suave Shooter McGaven (our closest thing to competition, who is always at these events, and generally on the same panel as me), but I remind myself that I did what I could and that's good enough.
2. I am hungry, and also lazy. I wonder how long I will sit here hungry....
3. The wedding this weekend was SO SO SO beautiful. I want to live in last weekend forever.

Yeah I know TPS. . but it would have been very cool to sit here in BumFuckfOregon, watching the Tonys, and knowing that we saw it in its pre-Broadway incarnation.

Yea, I saw it off-Broadway, and I do feel cool :-D

1. I got an invitation to the baptism of a child of a friend. Same friend who told me that I "didn't make her feel special" during her third pregnancy. Or that I didn't give up enough of my free time to help her. I'm thinking.

2. I didn't watch the last episode of the "Sopranos".

3. I got horrible blisters across my feet from a new pair of sandals. Owwie!

Damn, damn, damn! If the movie time (I didn't want to miss it as it was a rare documentary about Sam Fuller, who had been a friend of my grandfather's)had been posted correctly, I would have made it to lunch-ej if you're reading this, will you accept a raincheck on my next London trip?

I saw Crazy Love and Knocked Up within the course of a few days. I've never been pregnant; do they REALLY make a point of showing the fetus heartbeat during the initial exam whether or not the man perceived to be the father is present? I do not want to get into an abortion debate here; I am still pro-choice after seeing this. For the most part I liked Knocked Up, but I was upset by the misogynist language : bitch, pussy, shorty, that a man's face looks like a vagina--also it would have made more sense that the sister would not be let into the same club that they had been admitted to earlier because she was acting like a bitch, not because she was seven months older--the second bouncer makes it clear he doesn't like the policies, but nothing's done about it. I'm also thinking about the "natural selection speed date" thread posted on the blue a few months ago. The harridan who decided which of the gold-diggers were good enough to be chosen would not have picked me since I am 39 and fat (though because I've never smoked nor fried myself in the sun I still get carded), but I like dancing and would like to be able to go to an 80's new wave/goth/punk club without being judged for my looks. If my SO wanted to spend time with his friends, I would not be upset as long it were made clear that I was what mattered most to him. I don't want to be alone for the rest of my life, but being involved with someone isn't what would fulfill me. Both of my godmothers were roughly from the same generation as Linda Riss and thought they were nothing without men--the first one killed herself six weeks after my godfather died and the second was first married to her childhood sweetheart, then had an affair and married an alcoholic, divorced him and married someone who was fucking someone my age, then became involved with someone who she didn't like and who didn't like her. Pugach is a sociopath who should have been put away for the rest of his life after he orchestrated the attack.

I have an allegy related sinus infection that I did not promptly control.
