Anyone have any experience with travel insurance? Several months ago, I bought two plane tickets to Kona, internet tickets, non refundable. Well, I have had a health thing crop up,[More:]and right now I would have to say it's a coin toss whether I will be able to go to Hawaii in July. (I will write about the health thing next week, when I know more.)

Northwest Airlines has this travel insurance link, and it looks like I could get my tickets insured for under $30, and if my health prevents the trip (and there would be documentation), get the fare refunded.

It almost seems to easy to be true. Does anyone have experience with this? What are the pitfalls?

Thanks.
Check and see what happens if there is already documentation of illness previous to the insurance purchase, they may use that as an excuse to deny the claim.

Well obviously I have a concern, but I have not received a diagnosis. It seems gray to me, although my intention, if known to them would disqualify me from benefits.

It's a quandary.

Did you buy the tickets with a reputable/oldstyle credit card? There might be a built-in insurance on that - check it out.
