The Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies has identified at least 120 whales. That’s out of a worldwide population of around 400. Why there are more this year is a mystery.

That's just crazy, that there are only 400 right whales left. I know that probably reflects an increase somehow, once they were put on the endangered species list but wow, that's so small. My high school graduating class was bigger than that.

Neat if you get to go out to see them, ericb, you should take a ton of pictures and show them here!

I love whales, and the ocean, and everything having to do with it.

Hell, we have 'em here too.

Today, anyway.

I love whales. I've only been lucky enough to see humpbacks, though. That was off of Massachusetts in October of '05. What a magnificent sight they were. Hey, maybe the whales are having a meetup!
