What's for dinner? →[More:]I fancied a 'proper' dinner tonight, so there's a beef stew simmering on the hob.
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 onion, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
About a pound of stewing beef, cubed
Beef stock, about 300 ml.
Dried mixed herbs (or fresh, if available)
Salt & pepper
In a large-ish pan, heat some olive oil. Add onion, garlic and meat. Stir it about until the meat is browned. Add carrots, stock & dried herbs. Season to taste. Put the lid on, and simmer until tender. To thicken, add a shake of
Gravy Granules (fab invention).
I think I'll have this with pasta and broccoli.
It took me about 5 minutes to prepare (thanks to my
Nicer Dicer which I used to chop the onions and carrots) and it'll take about an hour to cook, which is fine, I've got stuff to do while it's cooking.
Gordon Ramsay has a show on TV where he tries to get people to cook real food instead of eating processed stuff, and a column in
The Times. I try my best to eat well and cook from fresh whenever I can, and I love his
recipes.
So, what are you having for dinner tonight?
