It's that obvious is it? :P Is it at least a big hot dog? It's not one of those little guys is it? I can get a 10 inch long, one inch diameter homemade sausage at the chip truck downstairs for $3.25. CDN. In fact, I kinda want one now....
And, just to torture myself, how much is a beer then?
LF, last time I went to a game (a few years ago), a beer was $7.25, poured into a warm plastic cup. They were 24-ounce beers, but on a hot Georgia day you're lucky if you can drink half of it before it's too warm and gross to finish. Quite a racket. (The price gouging is one reason I haven't felt motivated to go to a game in three years, even though I get in for free!)
I've heard the hockey games are like too. I've never been to one of those either. I'm professional sports-deprived. The closest thing was an ND football game last fall and I didn't buy anything there so I have no idea if their prices were crazy or not.
I can go from my house to a seat in RFK in 15 minutes, and I've been to maybe three games in the three years the Nationals have been there. Not a big baseball fan, but also not a fan of paying ridiculous prices for sub-par food. On the other hand, since it's so close to home, I can always have a few brews before leaving home (and usually one on the way, too (walking, WALKING)).
Anyone wanna see a game? Lemme know, and we'll meet at my place!
Man I love me a hot dog, but if a vendor said the following in the stands, I'd find it damn near impossible not to buy from him:
Processed pork product heah! Getcher lukewarm tube of meat processing leavings combined with whatever happened to fall into the vat right heah! Looks like a penis, tastes like a garden hose! Processed pork product heah!
Seconding or thirding the minor league enthusiasm here. I've been to games of the Bridgeport Bluefish (the park is triangulated between Metro North tracks, a power plant and a housing project. sometimes the train drivers would honk their horns at the game which always brought a cheer), the New Haven Ravens and the Brooklyn Cyclones. You get the fun of a ballgame, cheap grub and cheap beer. An all-American good time.
I've lived in major league towns, and I'm a Red Sox fan since living in Boston from 1977. But the Jacksonville Suns offer all the August heartbreak of the Red Sox, at a box seat price of $18. Beers are $4, hot dogs $3.50. Any day at the ballpark for which you can get away with change from a couple Andy Jacksons has great appeal.
