How often do you type up a big post here, then just close the window when you realize it's really not that interesting to others, and that typing it all up was satisfying enough?

Constantly. Here and elsewhere. Actually, I find that's one of the greatest utilities of AskMe; often, by the time I've finally put my question into words, either the answer has become obvious, or I've figured out how to find the info I was going to ask for.

Most of the time I don't post things I think I will post. Actually writing it out seems to make it more obviously boring or something.
