FilterFilter My Brita filter pitcher -- on the top there is a button that you can push and it lists percentages. I think it is supposed to tell me when to replace the filter. Anyone know how it works?
(Do I push once when I put in new filter? Do I push anytime I want to check? What's the sign for replace?)

I have no idea -- I've never seen such a thing but it sounds way cool. It's like water, but scientific!

We have the low-tech Brita, so there's nothing to push. I'm curious, though. I hope you find out.

My old Brita filter had month and day knobs on the top. You could use them to remember when you needed to reset the filter.

We have one like that, too Claudia_SF, and I'm as mystified as you are. Pretty helpful, huh?!

How the BRITA Memo works. Maybe not exactly your model, but close enough? The key is that you have to reset it when you replace the cartridge.

(Anyway, I've always assumed that since those things really aren't any good at removing toxins, but do improve the flavor, the filters may be used for much longer than they're "rated". It's the old razor and blades thing.)

I always assumed that it just counts down 2 months worth of time.

It tends to reset itself if you drop the lid accidentally.

In the old days I had the little cling-sticker on the fridge that you would put additional cling stickers on to mark the replacement month and day.

I too usually leave the filter in a lot longer than recommended.

Oh my GOD this makes me laugh and laugh and laugh. || This is a quiet, almost silent, whining thread
