27 April 2007

I can't take it anymore. I just have to say it.[More:]

I am worried about Jonmc's ability to intake calories with as little nutrient value as humanly possible. Unless you count B vitamins in beer...

All of a sudden I have this sudden fear of us having to have the first Metachat Bunny Funeral with a very well preserved but very DEAD Jonmc and it is freaking my little bipolar self out terribly.

I would give anything, ANYTHING, just to hear that our boy ate a steamed carrot or something once in awhile. Or had a glass of milk.

Even if it was in a dirty glass.
Bunny, relax. I have my bad habits but I'm a big boy, I can handle them. Don't worry about me.

No worries, bunnyfire. I make plenty of good stuff to eat, including baked chicken, pasta, london broil, and always with some kind of veggie (he likes corn, asparagus, carrots, cauliflower, peas, spinach...). He'll even partake of a salad now and again. Appreciate the concern, though. Also, his latest blood pressure and cholestorol levels, if it makes ya feel any better, were well within normal ranges. We can all do better, of course, but things are nowhere near so dire. No need to send flowers.

There are B vitamins in beer? Hmm. Maybe I'll drink one. I mean, I was going to stop at twelve, but if it's good for my health.

Asparagus and cauliflower? You're a better man than I am, jonmc. For some reason, I really like broccoli (#3 agricultural product where I live, after wine and beef), but can't stand its pale white cousin. I also prefer cabbage to lettuce and love me those green beans. Of course, I'm writing this while enjoying a Macho Burrito from DelTaco, but that's because the nearest Del is in Santa Maria and I only have to go to Santa Maria about once a month. That's portion control, right?

If jon keeps drinking the whisky, he'll be just fine.
Whisky derives from the Gaelic uisge beatha (approx. pronunciation = ooskéh baytha), their translation of aqua vitae - the water of life.

Mayhaps I should keep the details of my day at the cardio cath lab to myself. Nah! No fun there.

Anyway, I am staring well in the face of the possibility of needing another bypass. I probably would have been recovering from an emergency bypass right now, but my days at the gym paid off in elevating my ejection fraction to almost normal.

My days of dancing with the Happy Phantom have been postponed yet again. heheh ;-P

"If jon keeps drinking the whisky, he'll be just fine. ..."

I don't know about that, Zack_Replica, in jonmc's case, but I hope for his sake that you're right. For I think it's as Mark Twain wrote, in Life on the Mississippi:

"...A random remark, connecting Irishmen and beer, brought this nugget of information out of him--

'They don't drink it, sir. They can't drink it, sir. Give an Irishman lager for a month, and he's a dead man. An Irishman is lined with copper, and the beer corrodes it. But whiskey polishes the copper and is the saving of him, sir.'

Unfortunately, from what I understand of his habits, jonmc has a long lead on the beer, and may have to pickle his liver in whisky trying undo advanced corrosion already caused by lager. I think the only things propping him up at this point must be that he's only part Irish, and enjoys the love of a good woman. But I wish him luck with the experiment, and always look forward to his further field reports.

He'll be just fine. He's some kind of superhero. I suspect he's also helping others. I know sometimes I wave off a jalapeno popper or a deep fried somethingorother and just assume Jon is necking it down for me.

Beer? Irish? Ok... Guinness, Smithwick's, Harp, Murphy's, Kilkenny, Beamish. How's that? ;)

"... How's that?"

Some would say those aren't beers Zack_Replica, but brands of Irish bread. :-)

I must say, I don't think I've ever had so much detailed, in-depth, updated information on someone's personal diet before in my life, including my own husband. On any given day, I'm much more likely to know what Jon ate and drank than what mr. taz has consumed. Yesterday, jon had White Castle burgers, cream cheese jalapeno poppers, and (I think) various desserts and snacks, plus beer and whiskey. My husband? No idea, since he's back in Thessaloniki to take care of tax stuff, and though we spoke three times on the phone, I don't know what he ate. I do know some of the people he saw, though, so I would put money on some beer being involved.

Anyway, it's just one of those little oddities of the internet. You can tell everyone everything you eat and drink, jon, or you can tell them not to lecture you/worry about you - but I don't think you can fairly do both; you love to show off your eccentric diet, but you also love to play the "why do you care what I eat/drink, you health-food Nazis?!" card... Kind of like someone who wears a super- revealing outfit, and is then outraged that people stare and make comments about their body.

You? Are my hero.

Fair enough, taz. and I'm not upset with bunny, just wanted to set her mind at ease that I might goof around but I'm not at death's door.
