Flickr Blargh. I have some indistinct bias against Flickr streams full of food plate shots. "Here's the great sushi I had!" Yawn. I'm sure it tasted good but really: spare me. I think all Flickr streams should be like Essexjan's: flying dogs and teeny animals!

I mostly agree about food shots, but I took a pic of Essexjan's Mediterranean Chicken recipe that I made last week.

See, I'm sure that would be wonderful set down in front of me, but I, too, find food photos unappealing. Everything just ends up looking so dead.

But I love that there's a Flying Dogs stream on Flickr.

There's a little setting to that shot at least, BP. It evokes the diner as a whole. But flying dogs it ain't ;D

That's why they don't use real food for restaurant ad photo shoots. Apparently it's quite difficult to photograph food in an appealing manner. I used to work for a company that sold those pre-movie slideshow ads in movie theaters, and they always told us to talk restaurant owners out of showing food in their ad because it would just look like crap.

With one exception, I didn't take the photos in my Flying Dogs or Tiny Animals set, but I snarf them from wherever I see them on the web for Specklet's Groups.

I love how people take photos of their kidney stones and post them on flickr and they're like bragging about how big their kidney stones are.
