American Experience sucks me in again! This time with Summer of Love. I've always loved this series, but lately they're getting into late 20th century history that is just amazing.
→[More:]They just do a great job picking a strong theme and bringing it across with interview and archival footage or photgraphy. It's always affecting. Tonight the storyline was excellent, and I also enjoyed learning more about the
Diggers, who took such a responsible, active role in trying to re-create community. I felt bad for them when they were stuck with 50,000 runaways, sufferers of mental illness, and stupid college kids on their hands, trying to educate them on how not to get raped or get VD. Trying to feed them. Lost souls everywhere.
The Diggers would be a great subject for their own documentary.
