Culinary Experiment I found some Hawaiian-Sweet-Bread hot dog rolls in my local MegalomaniacMart and I was inspired...[More:]
What if I cooked up a Sweet Italian Sausage, and put it in a Hawaiian Sweet Bun, then added Sweet Relish, Maui Sweet Onion (or Vidalia if in season, this isn't a Hawaii thing), Honey Mustard and Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce. And maybe some Sweet Potato Fries on the side... Would it be, like the Sweetest Sandwich Ever? Would it be safe for a Type 2 Diabetic to eat? Maybe add a little High Fructose Corn Sweetener just for the hell of it? Please advise.
Also: Would this be safe to be served with sauerkraut or would it cause a kind of matter/anti-matter reaction that would destroy my kitchen?

Sweet Wendell. That sounds like a perfectly nutritious meal. Be sure to have insulin loaded and ready.

Forgo the sauerkraut, it would ruin the entire experiment. Save it for your sour meal: Corned beef and sauerkraut on rye with mustard, capers, white vinegar and a kosher dill. Served with a icy mug of bitters, with a handful of salt and vinegar chips.

can't speak to the diabetic part, but it might be too much of one type of flavor, things would cancel out and all you'd get is whatever the strongest contender brings forth plus a lot of muddling undertones. At least that's what I think would happen, but who knows perhaps you'll uncover a synergy of awesomeness. Try it and report back.
Of course this would be the perfect thing at 4am after an all night bender, but that'd trow any pretension of healthiness out the window.

Edgeways, I can see it marketed as kind of a hangover cure/preventative whether it does any good or not :)

LoriFLA, that sounds mostly like a plain ol' Rueben sandwich to me. For a sour meal, I'd try some sauerbraten with the sauerkraut, kosher dill, maybe some bitter greens for a salad, salt and vinegar chips and a big glass of half-the-usual-sugar lemonade! (I'm not totally nuts...)

Now, what should I do with this jar of Sweet and Sour Sauce (the very artificially red colored kind) in my pantry?

Yes! Bitter greens and no-sugar lemonade. What was I thinking?

Naturally you should try to break that compound down. Fire up the hot plate.

Sounds good! Although I personally would pass on the sweet relish, but I can see how it would work for those who do like it.
