The issue still has to pass the Senate and be signed by the President. Bush has said he'd veto the bill, and there's probably not enough support for an over-ride, though. It still feels like we're getting somewhere, at least.
It is. Utah isn't specifically named in the legislation, but it's understood by all that the reapportionment called for in the bill will give an additional seat to Utah.
So, is the opposition to this saying anything other than they don't want another likely democratic voting (semi)state? And it's funny the state picked to potentially get another seat is Morman UT, where polygyny bubbles just under the surface. Real traditional family values.
(not that I really care about polygamy in general, consenting adults and all that noise, just that it seems pretty counter grain to the "one man, one woman" claptrap)
