Some good news this morning. That is all, other than→[More:]my new office mate is a born-again homophobe and little does he know, but the first aspersions he casts on this will result in both my feet, rhetorically, down his throat.
Well, he's worked here for a long time. . .used to be a pot-smoking ninja-wannabe. . .now more mature, married, a kid in Christian kindergarten, etc. He just got the job next to me, based on no one else applying or being qualified. He'll do OK and we have an OK working relationship, but some of the stuff out of his mouth is just not OK.
And I have the problem of thinking that anyone who is against gays and lesbians having rights like everyone else, and being protected from "special" discrimination, is plainly a bigot. That's MY prejudice.
We had someone like that on our team.
He started keeping his mouth shut when the very out-and-proud guy on our team confronted him and said "why do you think I'm less than human?"
Once he was hit with that, well, either his eyes opened, or he realized the rest of us would never agree with him and he'd just look like a jerk.
OK a cute story. It's the Day of Silence, and this morning, daughter gets up, her mom (mrs. danf) starts to "honor" it by not talking to her, assuming she's going to do it (since she organized it last year for all queer youth in this town).
Daughter, who is PMSing and is going through a rebellious phase, anyway, goes (somewhat defiantly), "I did this last year. Plus I have talking in class I need to do. I'm not doing that this year. I'm a bad homosexual."
