Photos from the Nor'easter→[More:]A coworker took these photos on Monday of a major road about two blocks from where I work in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Now I have photographic proof that I had a reasonable excuse not to show up at work that day.
My best friend in Hillsborough and her husband were unable to leave town, it was that bad. I had to drive past a lake on my way to work, and the water was two feet from the top of the run-off dam (usually a 25 foot drop)and roiling like the white-water area of a river. Unreal. I heard the rain on my skylight in my bathroom this morning and all I could think of was "You've got to be kidding me!!!"
Meanwhile, in other parts of the world, it was announced here yesterday that the Murray-Darling Basin (where ~50% of Australia's food is grown) will most likely not be allocated any irrigation water for the next year unless there are significant rains in the next six weeks.
