I got on Facebook for the first time today. And I can't get off. Help.
I know. It's been a couple weeks and I have one firm rule - no facebook during work hours.

Me too! I caved, I can't believe I signed up.

I signed up a few weeks ago but I don't really get the point. I put in my high-school and three colleges but no one I went to school with is registered. What else are you supposed to do with it?

Do I get slapped if I say I can help you get off? I only ask because for whatever reason, jonmc hasn't shown up to say it himself.

I came here to snicker about the get off comment too.

I'm tired.

And I am so old no one I went to school with is on Facebook. I still managed to find about 10 friends though.

I have found my nieces, my first love from high school, my stalker from college, and a number of the guys whom I have dated (well, what were the odds on that last one).

An 'ex' of mine added me on Facebook recently, and it sparked a flurry of e-mails and messages with friends from ages ago. Good stuff. But pace yourself. I've been getting in contact with no more than one person per day.

(Sorry for the serious comment. I'll go back to being an internet jerk directly.)

Is there a metachat facebook group?

I guess that me and the class of '82 are just too old for this new fangled social networking. Sigh.

There is, kyleg.

If anyone would like to be officially my friend send me a request on Facebook. Just let me know what your alias is...

Must...not...make...obvious...jokes...

Is Facebook mostly kid-oriented, or do we old farts use it some too?

There's only one person from high school I want to get back into touch with, but he didn't respond when I sent him mail (he's in the phone book), so I guess I'm SOL. I like being unnoticed former classmates myself, so I shouldn't complain.

Lots of my college classmates show up on linked in (Law school, too, but I don't know any of them). I usually reconnect with them, but so far it hasn't yielded any great stories!

Well, I'm 33 and I'm finding lots of of people from my cohort on it. An ex of mine who is 40 is totally into it.

Facebook is primarily american (with all that highschool emphasis) so it wouldn't work for me. S:

However I hate that most of those sites now offer the posibility of sending spam to all your contact list when you register. I receive an invitation to one of those social sites almost every day from people I don't even know. :(
