Three cakes I'm not making tomorrow, due to time and/or ingredient restraints in my current situation: Hummingbird Cake; Mexican Chocolate Cake; Easy Chocolate Muffins not a cake, but they're made with cake mix, so, you know...[More:]

We just realized that it's my husband's birthday tomorrow (because someone called to see what he was doing on his birthday - d'oh!), and I have no gift, have made no social arrangements, have nothing yummy to cook, and I'm not sure I can locate my baking pans to make a cake. Plus, all the shops close in about a half-hour (and closed tomorrow). So I'm running to the nearest grocery (which should remain open a bit longer) to see what I can grab quickly. But maybe somebody else wants to try one of these interesting cake recipes I came across while searching for the no-ingredient/no-pans/no-brains recipe I need. (and if you happen to have a no-ingredient/no-pans/no-brains cake recipe that can be made with cardboard boxes and kiosk ingredients, go ahead and post it here, would ya?)

Dammit Jan, I came in here to make a joke. You have beat me to it.

Nicely done.

The hummingbird cake looks delicious. I saved the link for when I'm not trying to lose weight.

Hummingbird cake is to die for. I've made it several times, usually for Christmas.

How about a Southern classic, Pineapple dump cake? Prep has never been easier. Also good for camping. Yes, it is gross, sugary, and processed. And oh, so good.

I associate hummingbird cake with funerals. Because there is always one sitting around at the after party. (Also, I do not like hummingbird cake because it has fruit in it. I do not like fruit in my desserts typically.)

Yrrr! What do Greeks do for B-days? Will he be ok with an extra-special IOU?

I just made this cake last night and had a slice for breakfast. I used less powdered sugar in the almond cream. I will make it again to serve to a class on Tuesday.

Total prep time: 30 minutes. They weren't kidding. But it also does need to set up in the fridge.
