Remember the "iPeed (my fatigues a little)" post? - well, major newspaper in Denmark has printed the Flickr image, despite the cc licence saying non-commercial use only, and the actual rights owner of the image isn't really know. Meh.
Dangit, that should read "known", and I'm probably using "meh" in all the wrong ways there. It just irked me that a reputable paper pinched a picture. Yaknow?

That's lame.

I'm completely ignorant as to how Creative Commons works in other countries... is it at all possible that such a thing "does not apply" in Germany?

CRAP, Denmark.

My IQ has apparently dropped significantly since posting in that IQ/Smart thread...

US and DEnmark have both signed the Berne Convention. Don't get me started on 'creative commons'. They're just "branding" something that was a law to bgin with and I don't like that very much because it confuses an already confusing topic.

I hear that major (not really "reputable" though) papers in the UK routinely rip off whatever they can find on the internets and dare photographers to take on their well-funded legal departments.

Yeah, they steal all their fun cartoony stuff from b3ta too.
