Aargh! Facebook overload!!! Facebook invites have been coming fast and steady in the last few months. I declined them all. Some sort of crazy threshold has been reached because today I received 46 invitations to join! No, no, no, no. I will not join. I refuse. They can call me or something. (But - am I missing out?)
Awwww, c'mon. It's fun.

Facebook -- is this something you'd have to have a computer to appreciate?

I'm sure it's fun. Metachat's fun too. But there's no obligation to partake. Actually, this relates to something I've been thinking about a lot lately, and might post about sometime -- I have SO MANY entertainment options in my life, it's crazy. I can't do them all. I can't even do all the super-duper-fun-sounding-est ones. I can't even watch all the DVDs out there that sound good -- I swear, if I see one more DVD package labeled "The Complete Third Season," or something like that, I'm gonna scream. It's too much.

Yes, it seems like too much. Then I have to check Facebook everyday too...I spend too much time online as it is!

I'm a big fan of Facebook. Most of my friends and acquaintances are (surprise!) from school. So it makes it really easy to find and keep in touch with various people.

And please. You don't have to log in every day (I probably log in once every one or two weeks). You don't have to keep track of everyone's status. You don't have to post messages all the time. I've got an OKCupid account and a Friendster account and an Orkut account and I ignore them all roughly equally. Facebook is just another way to keep track of your peeps. It's cool. Use at your discretion, no biggie.

You probably spent more time deleting the invitation emails and composing this post than you would've spent creating a Facebook profile and checking in weekly.

Oh. The koolaid does seem to be a pretty colour. Pretty internet social networking site....

The thought of all my social circles colliding...ack. Venn diagram hell. What about exes, and people you hate, had a fling with, fired etc.?

Okay I've joined the damn thing. Here goes any productivity.

Yaaaaay! One of us! One of us!

(FWIW--I actually like Facebook's interface best of all the social networking sites. I should have mentioned this before, but your comment on exes and people you hate and whatnot reminded me--the great thing about Facebook is that you can control who sees your profile by controlling who links to you as a friend. I make a habit of only approving as friends those people whom I know personally; I will occasionally get random invites from random people, but I ignore/deny all of them. So I'm more comfortable doing things like linking to my blog and putting up my real, primary email address than I am on Orkut or Friendster or what have you.)

I am officially indoctrinated and addicted. And yes, productivity has gone out the window. Oh and Fuzzbean, I find the interface really quite slick and useful. There is some odd little glitch because I can neither join one particular group nor be invited (I know the admin), but I just can't figure it out. Ah well, small glitch in otherwise quite smooth interface!!
