Well, you learn something new. I had never heard of this US usage (when I first saw this thread I assumed it was a mobile phone provider or something). Does coriander get used in the States too, or would I not be understood if I asked for it?
Well I know what they are used in - it's just I'd never heard the word (unlike zucchini/courgette, eggplant/aubergine etc). Incidentally my girlfriend can't stand the taste of the leaves - a shame since I cook Indian food a fair bit and miss not using it.
