mmorpgs really are like crack [More:]

Glad I never tried Everquest. Or WoW. Although romping through Middle Earth is so fun (and I am just getting started at this point) that I don't mind having a new addiction. I can't make fun of MMO obsessives anymore though, which kinda sucks.

Played LotRO for about seven hours today. It is too cold to go outside and it sorta kinda helped to take my mind mind off the fact that I have about thirty azaleas that were just getting lovely that now look like I microwaved them (along with every tree in the yard except for the oaks and blue spruces) and in my brief walk-through I saw NO perennials that looked okay. Ferns look like wilted salad as do all of my hostas (40+) and I lifted up one sheet and found the bamboo shoots under it looked like they got zapped. Most stuff that I covered is still that way as it will be cold again tonight before getting up to nearly 70 tomorrow. Insane. I'll take some pictures of the poor plants tomorrow so you can share my pain. =P

So glad I do not own a nursery right now. There is one near my house that had 150 or so Japanese maples outside and all were leafed out, many had quite a bit of new growth. They all look like shit now, new growth and leaves are dead. Mine are the same way but at least I only have a handful of them. I just hope they come back out and that nothing expensive is totally dead.

Anyway, I have crappy memory so I forgot my character names already but if anybody else is playing you should post your info here, I will come back later with my character names. Some are still in the training area at the moment. I am on Elendilmir server.
I take it back, it got the oaks too. They just don't look as bad yet. So unless they show damage in the next few days it looks like the blue spruces are the ONLY trees that didn't get the foliage killed. They were not putting out new growth yet, thankfully. Now to wait and see what leafs back out in a few weeks, what is completely dead and what will not leaf out until next year. Sigh.

Sorry to hear it. My friend in Texas has similar complaints. Apparently it went from snow on the ground to 80 degrees in the space of 48 hours. Plants got all confusey.

But when they sprout again, it'll be, like, "were-table, and the undead PLANTS." How about that for cool, now.

you know... when this generation finally gets old and feeble and retires to nursing homes mmorpgs would be an absolute killer way to spend your time.

I tried it. I liked it. But I think, fortunately, I made my saving throw versus addiction.

I'm still poking around in SecondLife. It sure seems buggy and I'm still not sure what the buzz is all about. But anyway. I'm Moment Shilova there. :)

Shiva server on FFXI. I'm Aranabi, Jeynabie, and Lynabeh.

Yeah, I know... but I like the naming scheme!

I don't think I'll ever go back to RPG. I played a MUD very seriously in college for a year or so - just fell into it. I still have memories of it as though it were a real place. That bothers me. I'm glad I don't have a divided reality any more.

Though I agree, when I'm 90 it may be the best of all possible worlds.
