Swaptree Invite -- who wants one? Last week I was looking for a Swaptree invite. I found one. Now they're giving each member 3 invites -- I have two left. Anyone interested? [More:]I'd like to give it up to someone who genuinely plans on using it, someone who has a ton of books to list, and plans on being a major trader. Or if you sweet talk me or send me a picture of your boobs, that'll work too!
i've got a boob picture, but i've got my own invites, thank you.

I think you can get an invite just by going to the site and signing up. I got one. So I guess I have 3 invites, too.

Oh wait, no I don't! Never mind.

So does that mean you'd like one?

No, I got an invite; I meant that I don't have 3 invites.

Wow - From the original thread...
Just to see who is still paying attention... we will send Swaptree beta invitations to the first four MetaChat users who send an email to: MetaChat (at) swaptree (dot) com.
We're still tweaking a bunch of stuff on the site so we're keeping a tight reign on the number of users in our private beta, but we can always use a few more people with lots of books, CDs, DVDs and video games...

That was nice. Anyone take advantage of the offer?

Wow, cool... I didn't notice that. I ended up emailing Swaptree and just asking for one. They gave one up. Pretty cool guys!

i mailed them just to say hi and they sent me one anyway, out of pity for my hard drive crash.

The more I read about Swaptree, the more interesting the story becomes.

Among other things, I've learned recently that the company was founded in 2004 (when they got $300k in startup money), and that, at one point (May 2006, when they seemed to have hired a pr agency), the site was scheduled to open to the public in July 2006. (Oh, and in February 2007, this article says they just got another $1.4 million.)

Of course, don't believe everything you read, etc. In any case, though, it looks like a fascinating backstory.

I'm not interested at the moment, but I do like the idea of an algorithm determining the swaps rather than some kind of free-form "hey you I want that" system. I also like that they're trying to facilitate the person to person shipping as much as possible. They must have heard the same horror stories about things like Number Slate that I did.

Sounds interesting, if anybody has an invite left. I have a gmail account.
