That's wonderful and I took your suggestion to use that as a destop. It looks far better than the 5" of heavy wet snow that fell here last night.

I just learned about Hanami this year. Our local brewing company is making a spring seasonal ale called Hanami, and they brought it to a Slow Food meeting and explained the inspiration. Lovely idea.

When I was a kid we studied Japan in grade school (I've been in love with sushi since the 3rd grade). I remember learning a song about cherry trees...
sakura - sakura - ye no yo shi ya ha ma
I really don't know how to spell any of it except sakura, so my apologies. Then we runined it by playing it together on our recorders.

Thanks! A couple weeks ago, the cherry blossoms in waterfront park here in Portland bloomed. I went to photograph them, and unsurprisingly, discovered a lot of Japanese people there enjoying them.
