05 April 2007

I need easter egg painting ideas. Every Good Friday, I go to my dad's house to paint eggs. We really paint them. Here are pictures of some from last year. In the past I've done monster eggs (dracula, warewolf, mummy, etc.) or random things (underwater scene, pimento stuffed olive). How should I paint my eggs this year? I promise pictures and shoutouts for those that contribute.
You really do get into Easter, don't you!? Everyone keeps saying that David Beckham and his wife Victoria look like eggs with their new matching, scene hairstyles. Please immortalize them in egg!

Other ideas: girl groups, boy bands, internal organs, websites, commercial logos, penguins, hedgehogs.

I can't think of a thing to put on them this year, but your others are great.

Is the Axis of Evil too five-minutes-ago?

Ooh, internal organs!
Does this make me really sick?

I liked internal organs too - maybe because eggs come from, you know, inside chickens? That is really cool youungergirl44. Do you hide and hunt them too?

No, we stopped hiding and hunting them years ago. Then about two years ago we stopped doing Easter dinner too - my step-mom decided it was too much work. So my family doesn't usually see each other on Easter Sunday. It's a lot easier to get together on a Friday, order pizza and get messy painting eggs.

A plant on the top half, and dirt with roots, worm, bug on the bottom half? I'd put blue sky and sun on top, but that's a little girl-y.

Weebles? Especially the "vintage" ones (they don't have arms). I loved these when I was a kid.

I'm sorry I can't help you out with any ideas, but your eggs are the cutest. (These Ukranian eggs also caught my eye, if you're interested.)

Paint it like one of those Russian nesting dolls. (What are they called again? Marytruska or some such?) You'll pull it apart expecting more dolls, but instead be treated to duotone, protein-rich goodness!

An old boyfriend of mine used to do Mondrian eggs - you could steal that idea or, hey, use any painter! Monet eggs might be nice.

My grandmother used to paint eggs in this style. She would make the most beautiful and elaborate designs, more akin to the Polish pisanka. Maybe you could give that a shot. :P

This year I'm gonna try natural-dying eggs with leaf and wild-flower impressions (Using onion peel, red cabbage leaves and i dunno, anything else I can boil that changes colors?)

CitrusFreak - one of my favorite bloggers made Christmas Ornament Eggs with that technique this year! I think they look great.

Re Mondrian: I've seen this car around a lot. It doesn't usually have the flag.

muddgirl: other natural dyes include tea, coffee, henna, violets and a bunch of stuff I can't recall off the top of my head.

I was just inspired - maybe flags!

How about eggs that are painted to look like the various planets (and moons?) in our solar system? Maybe throw in a Death Star egg for fun?

Alright, Pax. You had me at Death Star egg. I think Star Wars may be my general theme this year.

My backpack's got jets...

A Vader egg, a Stormtrooper egg, a Leia egg, a Boba Fett egg, a Jabba the Hutt egg...wow.

Actually, I just revisited the thread to drop off this Easter-egg link. I hope the themed stuff works out...will try to remember to watch for results.

(But I still hope you'll try planetary eggs sometime.)

Love the idea of Star Wars eggs, youngergirl. Take lots of photos!

And Pax, thanks for the link to Mefi. I wouldn't have seen the thread otherwise.
