Askmecha For those of you bunnies that have contacts, how much did they cost you? I am particularly thinking of the disposable ones...[More:] I found my old glasses so I can see now (old ones broke and not repairable) but I am really wanting to go back to not having to deal with glasses at all.

Thanks all!
contacts? i don't link to anyone. sure wouldn't pay to, either.

I get mine from Coastal Contacts. I don't wear lenses often but will probably start doing so more now I've signed up for the gym.

In the UK, my lenses (1-day Acuvue disposables) are £14.50 per box, in the US it's $24.50. The UK price has fallen a lot, it used to be around £20 per box, so I used to order them to be shipped to George's and would pick up 3 months' supply each time I visited.

I've always found Coastal Contacts to be efficient, good customer service and competitive prices.

I get mine from 1-800-Contacts and they usually run me about $50 to $100 a year. You save if you buy more and then I wear them longer than you're supposed to, so that money lasts a while. I think it's been two years since I ordered them.

I buy online here in Japan, saves big over the in-store scam ("You mean I have to pay for an eye exam each time I pick up disposables? See Ya!")
I get the two week kind, wear them for three, ¥3612 for 12 sets, so that lasts me 4 months, ¥903=US$7.68/mo. That's very good for Japan.

I just bought a year supply of my Oasys contacts from my eye dr last week for $321 after rebate. I throw mine away every 2 weeks, so it was 8 boxes of 8.

I use 1 Save On Lenses, which looks like a slightly shady site (maybe it's just the name) but I've never had any problems with them. I order 2 boxes at a time for no real reason other than I hate spending a huge lump sum on things, and that's about $35 plus shipping and lasts twelve weeks, officially (they're two-week lenses).

I pay 80 bucks to my eye doctor for a 3-months' supply, but I don't wear them every single day, so it's more like 4 months.

I have the same brand but they come in six per box. I switched from Accuvue something or other to the newer Oasys and love them. Even though they are a little more expensive. But a lot of the cost is offset by my insurance.

I think I just went to LensCrafters or whatever eye place is in the mall by the BF's work. I got an exam and a year's supply of Accuvue 2-week disposables for $250 to $300.

MGL is right, wearing disposables for longer than the recommended time limit saves money. Don't tell my eye doctor, but I don't throw mine away every two weeks. I started doing this in junior high because my family couldn't afford to buy new contcts all the time and I was embarassed about my clunky glasses. I toss my contacts when they start bothering my eyes - or when I can't remove calcium buildup (little spots) on them. I make sure not to sleep in them, which I think makes them last longer too.

I got my "year's supply" about a year and a half ago - and I've only used five of the 30 or so pair I purchased.

Do you still have to use cleaner on them?

lensway is fantastic. it's in sweden, and so they won't need to see your "valid" prescription (wink wink).

if you buy the right (disinfecting, no-rub, all-in-one) solution + disposable contacts, you generally shouldnt have to actually clean them... just toss them once they get icky, like youngergirl44 does.
