meep
So the house that I grew up in has sat empty for years, ever since we moved out in fact, because my mom could not decide what to do with it. Finally she decided she would rent it but it is full of junk, some left from when she moved because it was stuff she did not want, some taken over there recently because she wanted to have a big garage sale before she rented it and get rid of as much stuff as possible. Fine, says I. I took a bunch of my own stuff over there, mostly sports cards, comic books and various collectibles that I have had since my teens. I thought I’d see if someone would buy the whole lot of it for a few hundred bucks just to get it out of my way. If not, I would ebay it. I also took over my old rack stereo system and speakers and a bunch of other random stuff, some was basically junk but a lot of it wasn't.

Well sometime over the last few days, I think Friday night, someone broke into the house and stole pretty much everything I had over there and anything my mom and stepfather had that was worth stealing. They did leave a few tools, I think they just missed them and they did not touch the metal storage building in the field. I didn't find anything of mine left other than a few random comics that they dropped on the way out. But I thought mom should a) call the police and b) take home anything they didn't want them to come back and get. I think they were really convinced they wouldn't come back because they ignored me. (I have no idea why my mom refuses to call the police unless she thinks her insurance will go up)

So we put on new locks yesterday since they stole some keys out of the house that opened the storage building and a door or two, but they didn't take anything home. They broke in again last night and took the tools they missed the first time and every container in the house. Rubbermaid containers full of stuff, some empty ones, even the trash can. It was just food wrappers and such, so if they were hoping to steal an identity they are wasting their time. They also neatly folded the sheets that were covering stuff they stole. Obsessive compulsive thieves I guess.

So anyway even after this, they didn't listen to me. They still have a tractor and a bunch of other stuff in the building out there. The tractor alone is worth thousands, there is also an antique tractor which could be worth thousands as well (really no clue, but it is a old tractor, so one would assume) but they just put on different padlocks and left them there. Insane!

I am tempted to turn it in myself, but I guess I won’t. I wanted to go over there and park in the building and watch out the window to see if they came back last night and I didn’t because I was tired. I wish I had. Then again, I could do it tonight but I’m running on fumes so it isn’t like I would stay awake anyway.

Also, BSG not back until next YEAR? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?

Meep Meep.

I wish your mom would call the police. That kind of reluctance seems worrying.

Call the police yourself. They know plenty about people who don't want to call them and will be understanding.

If you have anything, anything unique or marked or identifiable as yours, make sure you let the cops know about it. Maybe this year, maybe after BSG starts up again, they'll bust a fence and find your stuff.

Stuff like comics/collectibles, they will be able to check the shops. Nobody who's lazy enough to steal is productive enough to spend time selling it all on eBay.

Plus, yikes! MeCha crime wave.

I agree. The police could check with collectible shops to see if anyone has tried to sell large quantities of comics/cards etc. recently. So I'd call if I were you. It was some of your stuff, anyway.

Just kidding, but Mom isn't trying to hide anything from the po'leece, is she?
