25 March 2007

In line with today's events, my sister and a friend were randomly maced last night.[More:] Walking back from the shopping area to campus, a group passes the two, and one girl sprays my sister in the face. My sister turns to her friend and says, I just got sprayed with mace. The sprayer turns around being like, WHAT DID SHE SAY, and sprays my sister's friend in the face. Sister and friend hear something about "take their purses, take their purses", but they escaped somehow and the friend (maced in one eye) manages to drag sister (maced in both) over to a shopping center security guard (clueless ding-dong).

How is it possible that I've lived in NYC 3 years, and have never been mugged, and my sister almost gets mugged in West Palm Beach? ::mind boggles::
TPS, I hope you knocked on some wood or whatever else one does if you're at all superstitious.

What is going on around here anyway??!!

Now you can see why these kind of weapons are illegal in England.

Dang, I think I'll stay in the house for awhile.

House? Screw that, I'm building a damned bunker if this keeps up.

Wow, it's a freaking epidemic. I'm gonna build a geodesic dome for all bunnies and their loved ones to live in; this world has gone nuts. I hope your sister and her friend is alright and that those horrible girls get what's coming to them for doing that.

I was going to add something pro-gun, but decided against it.

I asked her if she was OK, and she said she was was because she's so tough. I said, you such a thug sister, I'm going to buy you a grille for yo mouf. She said she would wear it and then people would be scared of HER macing THEM.

I've been maced before. It's one of the most unpleasant sensations ever. Makes you feel like you're dying.

And I too have decided not to leave the house for a few days.

I wrote,

"I hope your sister and her friend is alright..."

And I have a college degree.

What's up with the world? Really.

West Palm Beach? Is this anywhere near FAU? 'Cos that means I'm within range of going over and, uh, Idunno, poking the macers or something.

Hey! No crime wave where I am! The last big crime headline in the SLO Tribune was a local Deputy Sheriff getting arrested for shoplifting.

In fact, there's a community paper in Grover Beach with a Police Blotter column that's as funny as the Arcata Eye but WITHOUT the snarky commentary - unfortunately, it's not online. Maybe I'll transcribe a few of the stories next time it comes out.

Anyway, all law-abiding bunnies are invited out to the California Central Coast where we have wineries, surfing, Hearst Castle, the Madonna Inn, Bubblegum Alley*, Nuclear Power and one small community that's been fighting over getting sewers installed for 25 years (their motto: "Los Osos: Where we can't agree on shit"). But housing is expensive and my current residence is too small to have a sofa to crash on (Motel 6 is over $40 a night - higher in the summer).

*Guiliani's 'broken windows' policy in NYC would have stripped the walls of Bubblegum Alley here, and that's not a good thing...

"the Madonna Inn"

*shudder*
posted by arse_hat 25 March | 23:53
If you didn't know, the Madonna Inn predates the singer called Madonna by, like, 50 years. Even its Men's Urinal is a tourist attraction (and NOT for the reasons you think, dirty mind).

"be prepared to be interrupted by giggling women with cameras."

Yeah, I get that a lot.

casarkos, I'm in Hollywood. If you want company up in WPB for the poking, let me know. Can't believe people are using mace to try to steal people's purses.

JEEZ! I am glad your sister is okay, but that's ridiculous!

I can't believe that someone who would mace another person wouldn't steal that person's purse. Suppose that just shows it's dumb kids and not some criminal mastermind.

And my sister goes to PBAU, casarkos.

One of those delinquents was probably taking video of the incident on her camera phone so she could upload it somewhere. It's like a sport to these mutants.

Yikes, sorry to hear, pink. I must say, I'm generally pretty vigilant, but I would not have seen that coming.
posted by Pips 26 March | 10:25
Yowza, I missed this, TPS. That sucks big time.
posted by gaspode 26 March | 12:08
I'm glad your sister and her friend are okay, Pinky.

This spree of crime against bunnies must stop!

Arrggghh.

*dons metal helmut, flak jacket, arms self with steel baton, and goes out into the night to protect bunnies*

That sucks.

Fucking shithead kids.

Glad to hear that she's tough. And OK.
