addressing you question, and I think it has been answered already, just a little extra. Yes there can be some hope, depending on circumstances. Depressingly though my wife's best friend died of something similar about a year ago.
Good luck
If this didn't suck enough, my mom-in-law depended on her hubby to drive (she's got some kind of condition that makes it painful for her to walk more than a short distance and apparently driving hurts too-I don't know much about it except when we were out there on Thanksgiving he did all the driving.)
They live out in the middle of nowhere, where they have a few cows and such. This is gonna cause major upheaval in their lives no matter how this pans out.
In other news, John Edwards and his wife announce HER cancer came back.
Have I mentioned just how much I despise and detest cancer?
I'm so sorry to hear this. You said it was so confusing. Basically the surgeon told the family before s/he got the path report back, that s/he had seen the tumour mass, had resected it and had got it all. This is generally straight after the op, and is all the info that could be given then. The path report is far more detailed. While most neurosurgeons can tell broadly what type of mass it is with experience and plain statistics, you can never confirm anything until a detailed path examination has been carried out. Like everyone else experience here I say be postive. I have a young family member with a Malignant Melanoma. Path report was awful and there was spread. We were told not to expect anything, although a very agressive tumour type this is also quite unpredictable sometimes. She's still with us three years later and really enjoying her life.
Don't lose hope and encourage him not to either.
