World Cup cricket. Probably the strangest day of cricket ever, yesterday. First, Bangladesh beat India, defending a lowly 192 runs, and then World Cup newcomers Ireland beat Pakistan. Pakistan fans were up in arms, taking to the streets and holding fake burials for the team. Then, this morning Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer was found unconscious in his hotel room and died a few hours later.
that is pretty wild

Ashraf's head will probably be the first to roll when he faces a senate standing committee on culture, sport, youth affairs and tourism next week.

"We will ask for his (Ashraf's) resignation in the meeting which is due to take place before March 28," Senator Mohammad Enver Baig, a member of the committee, said.

"You lost miserably to a country like Ireland. There is nothing to compensate and the chairman must resign and go back to the United States," Baig said.

Television channels were flooded with e-mails and calls from angry fans, who wanted the team and the PCB to be held accountable for bringing shame on the country.

Many of them pleaded emotionally for the government to withdraw all awards given to the players and management and freeze their bank accounts.

Obviously the Pakistanis don't take their cricket seriously. ;)

I am waiting for the autopsy report on Bob Woolmer.

This is crraaazzzyyy!

Prediction: DNA tests will show that Woolmer was the father of Anna Nicole's baby.

On St Patrick's Day too, I'll bet the English Hurling team are green with envy.

What a shame about Bob Woolmer though. He's not a cricketer I ever liked or admired, but it sounds like the stress of the job killed him, and that is always bad.

Canada's passion for hockey has nothing on these cricket countries.

A great story with a sad ending, I suspected foul play at first but then read the links. Very sad. I wonder what sort of a reaction his death will elicit from the angry fans?

But really a great story about Ireland doing it on St. Patrick's Day, that's just excellent!
