Went to The Improv last night and [More:]because a houseguest visiting my roommate was on the plane on the trip from LA to Houston with all the comedians--the headliner was Gabriel Iglesias--we got to hang with them after the show.

What fun! All four obviously love their work, and talking to them off-stage it *is* work, but they're all doing what they love.

And they were all total dorks, too. I mean, there's this huge club right next door, and none of the guys were looking for that type of afterparty. They just wanted to hang and talk with interesting people, and one in particular kept imploring us to e-mail him because all he does after shows is to go back to the hotel and geek out on the 'net. I e-mailed him last night to thank him, and I got a long ass reply back telling me "the rest of the story" about HIS side of a particularly long piece Iglesias did about a practical joke that was played. Hilarious stuff.

Laughter is the best medicine. I got home last night and slept really, really well. Woke up late, and yet I feel completely energized and ready for the day. What a fun night, spent with way cool people.

I'm ready for the weekend now. How's about you?
Working comedians are a pretty good lot, for the most part. (I know because I work for a couple.)

There used to be a comedy club not too far from me called "Rascals". One summer, I was lucky enough to get invited by different friends on consecutive nights. Same comedian both times. The first night, I guess the room was "on". The jokes were funny, the audience was appreciative, it was a blast. The second night, even though I knew the jokes, I still found the comedian hysterical, but most of the audience was sorta cool. Really, I kept looking around like, "What's with these people? This guy is good!" I guess my point is that I have a lot of respect for stand-up comedians, as it certainly isn't an easy job.
