"The weekend at the college didn't turn out like you planned ..." [More:]I heard this on the radio just now, and it's a song I still love, to my ears it sounds as fresh today as when I first heard it 35 years ago. (Yes, it really was that long ago). Elliot Randall's guitar work is sublime.

And a later guitarist with this band went on to have a very interesting career.

What songs have never dated for you?
I knew I recognized the lyric, but I couldn't remember where it came from! :)

When I was digging out all my Prince music last month in anticipation of his Super Bowl show, I found that the music from his peak years (Dirty Mind thru Sign O' The Times, to me) hasn't dated at all, to my ears. That's not something I can say about much of the music I listened to in the 80s, even the music I still like today.

For me: David Bowie’s Hunky Dory album still sounds fresh as a daisy.

Eno--Taking Tiger Mountain. It still sounds ahead of its time.

"Lewis Boogie," Jerry Lee Lewis, recorded live at the Star Club, Hamburg, in 1964. Really, that whole record never dates for me, and the reason is this: even [name your favorite hard rockers here] never rocked as hard as Jerry Lee and his band did that night. It's wild.
