Take 2: "The Unguarded Moment" (acoustic) - now in thrilling M4A format!
Thanks for this, I hadn't heard it before.
I was a big Church fan back in my scary neo-psychedelic days.
Bands like The Church, Rain Parade, The Mission, and a handful of other bands led the genre which eventually became a sad thing, as referenced by the "Sowing the Seeds of Love" thread from yesterday.
Thanks, scody. I've listened to it four times now and still can't decide if I like it or not. It's good, but as a cover (which is essentially what it is) I don't know that it works. The drums sound like a drum machine (and not in a good "Echo & the Bunnymen" way), and while the slower tempo opens up new possibilities, they're largely unexplored.
Perhaps I'm havering? It's got me interested enough to seek out the album, but it feels a lot like George Lucas ruining Star Wars or Coppola messing with Apocalypse Now. No, that's unfair. It isn't ruining a classic, but it has a feeling of unfulfilled potential. A bit like listening to John or Paul after the Beatles split.
On the other hand, the prospect of chococat doing some "neo-psychedelic" stuff interests me a lot more, I have to say. Any chance, mate?
