AH YES, DAYLIGHT SAVING. THAT REMINDS ME, I MUST GET SOME BLACKOUT MATERIAL FOR MY BEDROOM WINDOWS OTHERWISE I'M IN FOR ANOTHER 3 OR 4 MONTHS OF ME GETTING ABOUT 3 HOURS SLEEP A NIGHT AND THEREFORE SOME INSANELY BAD MOODS DURING THE DAY.

Try being bipolar during a time change. Really.

I seriously have learned to expect to be hypomanic around the time of the spring time change-the one in the fall messes me up too. Anything that messes up my sleep cycle messes ME up.

It was never a necessity; it was proposed so people could have more outdoor leisure time. Farmers have always hated it.

I don't understand why we don't just stick with daylight savings time?

I can't stand switching back and forth. I do love that it stays light later.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there some state or county in a state in the USA who doesn't adhere to the daylight savings time? I thought I read about that, once.

Wikipedia on DST. I know Arizona doesn't participate and I think there are parts of other states that don't as well.

Indiana does now, but they didn't when I lived there, except in the counties that are primarily suburbs of cities in other time zones: Chicago (in Central) Cincinnati and Louisville (in Eastern). Those counties just did exactly what the neighboring city did.

I have a highly variable bedtime anyway so the change doesn't confuse me too much. I do like it being lighter later, though.

TO MAKE IT WORSE, WE ARE NOW THE ONLY STATE WHO DOESN'T HAVE IT AND OUR CITY STRADDLES THE STATE LINE SO WE HAVE STREETS WHERE IT IS ONE TIME ON ONE SIDE OF THE STREET AND A DIFFERENT TIME ON THE OTHER! HOW FUCKING STUPID IS THAT? TO MAIKE IT EVEN WORSE, THE HISTORICAL REASON THAT WE DON'T HAVE IT IS BECAUSE THE EXTRA SUNLIGHT FADES THE CURTAINS OR SOMETHING EQUALLY MIND-BOGGLINGLY FUCKING STUPID!!!!

DST doesn't apply during winter because it would mean the mornings being dark for too long, therefore using more energy for lights etc. The original reason for daylight savings time was to save energy during WWII, not to provide more leisure time, although that it probably the main reason these days.
