Hi, I'm Wendell and I'm a Domain Name addict. Please stop me before I register more...
→[More:]On the front page of the Filter, somebody referred to "the ubiqui-pedia". I like that. It's a smart/funny play on words. I have registered over a dozen comparable wordplays as Domain Names (aardball, blogheads, clichestadium, linkinlog, newsleek, staticklingon, etc.) but have never done much with them. I am finally going to let a couple of them lapse in the next few weeks, and it feels like I'm giving up on a dream... It's a sickness, I tell you. And now, I just looked up "ubiquipedia" and "ubiqui-pedia" at namecheap... all the TLDs are available, .com, .org, .net, .us, .info! I could easily drop $50-$100 registering them all, but for what purpose? Somebody's gotta help me. Talk me down from this Domain Name ledge. Tell me I'm gonna be OK, or tell me to Get a Grip or just tell me I'm batshit insane! Just don't let me go back to namecheap!

Step away from the ledge my friend.

Try managing a portfolio of 160k+ names and watching them come and go. It's maddening.

My own portfolio of about 40 mostly unused domains is it's own version of hell, but when I see my customers not doing a damn thing with amazing names - argh.

This is why subdomains are so great. All the self-satisfied cleverness, none of the accruing yearly renewal fees.

One of my favorite sites - the unregistered domain name of the week. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated since 2005. Wonder if any of those are still available?

Dotster had a sale on registrations not long ago and I really had to restrain myself. It's fun to think of names, and cheaper than heroin.
