Askmecha: Becoming a picture book author? Is it possible/how does one become an author of children's picture books?

You might want to pick up a copy of Children's, Writer's and Illustrators Market from Writer's Digest Books. Do you have stories written down?

I have several stories mental fleshed out (ones I've told orally), I'd just have to type them up. The thing that has prevented me so far, was assuming that publishing companies had no reason to work with a non-illustrator.

Go for it! If they like your work, they'll put you in touch with artists--or maybe an artist friend of yours would collaborate with you.

drezdn, I asked this on AskMe a while back and the responses weren't especially encouraging.

But I'd still like to write a book anyway.
