I hate popcorn. The kind you get at the movies, the homemade kind, whatever. I just don't like it. It's just chewy/salty, I might as well pour salt on cardboard and go to town. Blah.
matteo, i've never thought i'd find another person with whom i share the deep and abiding loathing for popcorn.

bleh.

Wow! I loooooooove Popcorn. But I'm all about salty foods. Sweets do nothing for me.

*HACK*

*GAG*

Plus it gets stuck in your throat!

*COUGH*

Also, there's a microwave down the hall from my cubicle, and every couple of months someone burns up a bag.

Not a pleasant smell.

Atom Eyes, that's my main complaint: the smell. it nauseates.

also, i absolutely live for salty food but man i cannot tolerate popcorn.

once again for the kids in back: bleah!

It's not my favorite, but I enjoy cheese popcorn and caramel corn on occasion. I hate licorice, though, if it makes you feel any better.

I lurrrve popcorn! I make it the old way, in a pan. And I add salt and olive oil and butter and brewers yeast and eat it for dinner.

I like popcorn, but that awful smell of fake butter microwave popcorn is atrociously nauseating. Ugh ugh ugh.

My feeling towards popcorn is largely meh. If I go to the movies and I'm with someone who orders it, I'll munch on a few handfuls, but that's about it.

I don't mind the smell of plain popcorn being made, but yeah, the butter-flavored stuff smells like microwavable death. It really irritates me when someone makes it in the at work, because then the office reeks for hours.

As for liquorice: Red, YES! Black, NEVER.

I'm eating Fiddle Faddle. Right now. Seriously.

Stay away from the microwaved popcorn as the bags have Teflon on the inside and the PFOAs or whatever the hell they are called (chemical that causes cancer in lab critters, that's all that is important) end up in the oil during heating in the microwave. Teflon is going away entirely before long but there is no point in exposing yourself to it in the meantime.

I only seem to like popcorn when I'm going to see a movie at a theater while intoxicated.

Mmmm, popcorn with garlic powder and parmesan cheese is awesome. I love it and love the smell of microwaving popcorn.

But I do agree that burnt popcorn is nasty, best to burn it in someone else's house.

Popcorn's really good with cinnamon and sugar on it.

Kettlecorn popped corn is very good, no butter. Salty and sweet at the same time.
posted by redvixen 06 March | 19:28
I make my own version of kettlecorn with brown sugar.

Which reminds me of Joe Brown's Carmel Corn. I would walk a mile for a piece of Joe Brown's Caramel Corn.

When I was a yungun, I enjoyed the occasional popcorn. College (along with the smell of burning microwaved popcorn) did it in for me. Blech is right.

Sounds (probably is) ridiculous, but the only time in my life I've ever liked popcorn is when someone put yeast on it. Otherwise, I'm so glad that I'm not the only one.

I especially hate it when someone offers me popcorn at the movies and gets hurt that I don't want to share. I can tell them I don't like popcorn, but they'll just think I'm making a lame excuse not to share something. Because everyone loves popcorn!

I only have popcorn at the movies when they put real butter on it--Laemmele's in LA, Landmark all over the country, IFC and the Quad in NY.

I wasn't a big fan until I was a projectionist at a theater that made all their popcorn in-house. It was kernels, popped in Sunflower Oil, with a little bit of salt. Sooooo good. Since, I've started home-popping in canola/sunflower/whatever oil, and it just doesn't get better than that.
