Ana Belen Montes was a ba-a-a-ad girl: almost as good as reading a spy novel. [More:]

Also, Intelligence Resource Program Hot Documents
The National Intelligence Estimate of Prospects for Iraq's Security, dated January 2007, and
Various court documents related to Counterintelligence Operations

It's gonna be a two-batch popcorn night. heheh
Very interesting. I don't understand why people like this don't have some kind of software that will simply delete and write over (multiple times if necessary) unencrypted messages. Is that because I'm kind of stupid, and don't really understand how things work?

Also, wow... all those pay phone trips. Sheeeze. The most lackadaisical, perfunctory surveillance would have picked that up. Seems so silly. I would have put a contact in her local quickmart or grocery or gym or some place where she goes regularly that would seem perfectly normal. Spying is so much more stupid than we imagine it, isn't it?

No, just the opposite. In fact, until this week I had assumed that just zeroing out deleted files was sufficient, but then I learned that hard drives (especially consumer grade) can carry echoes of past data three or four generations deep. Thus, the need for five or more rewrites of "calculatedly random" sequences.
