02 March 2007

In honor of tonight's $267 million dollar jackpot that *I* will be winning, would you want the lump sum, or 20 year payout? And what would you do with your winnings? This will give me some ideas for the wealth I will have at 11:01 p.m. EST, TIA.
Here's what Brad Duke has done with the $85 million he won in the Powerball lottery in 2005.

BTW -- the $85 big clams was what he walked away with after taxes were deducted from his $200 million winning pick.

Since I can't be guaranteed actually living for the next 20 years, I would go with the lump sum. Then I would rent Pure at Caesars Palace and fly all interested Mechazens for the weekend.

I'm giving my MegaMillions to Brad Duke. Dude has vision.

If you win the $267 million dollar jackpot, I will take the lump sum, please, and I will be running away to some far off island nation, so you can't find me when you change your mind.

I would take the lump sum also. I would do so many things. Things that come to mind: travel, buy an apartment or home in Europe, move to a fantastic school and/ or school district.

Oh and yeah, lump sum, the 20 year payout is a mugs game.

Lump sum, and I would start several interesting publishing and media concerns, I think :)

In fact, I was already planning on how to spend my lottery winnings when I was reading the local paper this week. My needs are modest, so I would buy this house, which is very close to where I live now. Not too big, not too extravagantly expensive, but with lovely views.

I might still keep my job because I like it, but part-time, and also help out at the local cat shelter, where my current cats came from.

The answer is obvious. You will buy me 260 million beers. the rest is for the tip.

Easy. You buy five million, three hundred and forty thousand sockpuppets on MeFi.

I'll take the lump sum, and quit work. I'll pay off this house, and give it to a really nice neighbor who rents an old one, just because she's so nice and I love her kids. I'll have money set aside for our kids, and our niece and nephews. I'll give money to our brothers and their spouses. I will buy a big RV and spend the summers with the kids traveling around the U.S. We will travel abroad, too. And there will be charitable donations to Breast Cancer research, Humane Societies, and Doctors Without Borders. Life will be good! Even though it really already is.

i'd set it up so i could by land that would take care of itself and se up some kind of boarding house/venue that could grow into a retreat.

take the lump, buy a LOT of land in this area because of how fast it is growing so in the future my millions end up being much more.

also buy a couple acres in florida with a smallish house (for winter) and buy a huge chunk of land (at least 200 acres) in arkansas far enough out that I am away from the majority of the light pollution and build my dream house on it to live in from say march until november. then go around and pay to replace other people's lights in the area with non-polluting lights.

It is mine, mine I tell you!

I would probably take the 26 year payout because I am paranoid and afraid I would lose everything somehow if I took the lump sum. Out of the first year, I would use a big chunk to set up a trust so my parents would be set for life, and live fairly frugally the first year. After that, one big party.

I WON!!!!!

$2.00 [zero out of five, but I got the megaball]

I'm not going to let this change my life and I'm going to keep my job.
