I don't understand. Can you watch real TV shows on it, like LOST and 24 and Mythbusters, or is this one of those things that is providing their own programming?

From the Wikipedia entry:

The [Joost] teams are currently in negotiations with TV networks. It has signed up with Warner Music and production company Endemol for the beta. In February 2007, Viacom entered into a deal with the company to distribute content from its media properties, including MTV Networks, BET and film studio Paramount Pictures.

It's headed up by the Skype/Kazaa founders, who've funded the projected with the big bucks they got from the sale of Skype to eBay.

i actually have a stylish, brand-new dedicated joost box in my living room. it allows me to watch and record programming/advertisments, as well as chat with any other users who are in the same room. as well, it allows me to search for various content that i may or may not enjoy. it has decent uptime and hardly any lag. there are already some pretty big networks signed on, and the user/install base is surprisingly large.

so, does this joost thingie give everyone two invites at once, or do you get more - or *gasp* do you have to wait before you get to invite people? Who should I pass mine too - I have one pal that has dibs on the first one but I figure someone here should have the next one. This is all theoretical still tho, it starts with moi getting an invite. ha!

And does it suck up all ones time like twitter does? Because that would mean I hafta to clone myself now. ;)

I was able to sign up just using the link above. Is it just random whether you get the "Sign up for our beta today" option when you hit the homepage?
