Oh sweet fox-trotting jeebus, I hate emo kids as much as the next guy, but are people really so dim that they can't figure out that those websites are jokes?

I don't know about you, but I think these emotional kids should be identified and killed before they hurt themselves and others.

or worse, form bands.

(seriously, what's up with them? 'Our music is 'emo' because it's emotional." Really, now? Unlike every other genre of popular music since the dawn of time? Sheesh.)

Ahahaha! And "it's not gothic because there's no booze, no chains...."

That was a spoof, right?

Holy shit... ridiculous.

(seriously, what's up with them? 'Our music is 'emo' because it's emotional." Really, now? Unlike every other genre of popular music since the dawn of time? Sheesh.)

The term 'emo' was first coined to make fun of the overly flowery, poetic (and usually abstract) lyrics of later (decidedly more melodic and mellow) projects of members of prominent DC hardcore bands in eighties.

The people who (much later) took the term and ran with it, much like those websites, are jokes.

When will this word die?

Please swap word emo with word punk. Stop.

You realise that half of the point of the word is to wind anyone up who is older than 20. Right?
