3 Wisdom Teeth Later, any tips on food for my SO? [More:]Hey folks! So my gf just had 3 of her wisdom teeth removed and we realized we don't have enough friendly food for her so I'm going to go shopping in a little while.

I'm glad I checked webmd though because it recommends no hot liquids for the first 24 hours.

Does anyone else have any tips? My wisdom teeth came in just fine and I've never had a tooth pulled. Poor girl is sleeping on the couch watching tv, but the extractions were very easy, thankfully. So I'm mostly just concerned with keeping her tummy happy.

We know about not using straws or anything of the sort but we're thinking fruit smoothies would be good. But I'm not sure what else. Scrambled eggs? Ice cream? I'll get some more soup for tomorrow also. Thanks!
My teeth hurt after I had mine out, but I still wanted my Doritos :-D My parents had to pry them away from me. I don't think she's going to be in so much pain to seriously disturb eating for more than 1-2 days, if my experience serves correctly.

Other soft foods: soup, baked beans, hummus

Yoghurt, pudding, jelly (jello) should be ok. Maybe a sammich of cream cheese or hummus on soft bread with the crusts cut off.

Poor lady, I sympathise.

Ice cream's awesome...because it's cool, it feels soothing as well as tasting good.

When I had my wisdom teeth out, I asked the doc beforehand what I could eat afterward, cause people had told me you could only eat certain things.

His answer?

"You can eat whateeeever you want."

And that was true. What he didn't say was that it was definitely a few days before I wanted to eat much of anything. But since your gal has to survive, she will identify things that are soft enough. The idea is that you don't want to have to chew. Overcooked pasta or mac and cheese is a pretty good option.

ooh, good tips so far. thanks! she has a headache now and is waiting for the bleeding to stop still before she takes her pain killers.

I think you're right Miko, she might not want to eat much for a while. It'll give me some time to add to our shopping list!

thanks again. :)

Yup, my wife had hers pulled just after we started dating. I remember lots of shakes, smoothies, and yogurt. But after a few (maybe three) days, soup, scrambled eggs, and similar mooshy foods should be ok.

Be sure to have her rinse with warm salt water (GENTLY) after she eats anything. And tell her to chew gently. She really wants the clots to stay in place.

Custard style yogurt. Avoid the kind that has fruit pieces in it, especially berries. I was thrilled on the day I graduated to Spaghetti-O's.

Awesome! Thanks so much everyone. I just got back with all the goodies and her tummy is happy and she is resting on the couch again with an icepack on her face. She's feeling better.

Awesome call, Specklet. I didn't think about that, I will make sure she knows to do that once she wakes up. She's worried about the clots but I think she'll be ok. She heard horror stories of, what do they call it, dry socket? Yeesh!

Custard style yogurt, good idea! I got plenty of flavors of yogurt and tried to avoid the chunky stuff. But I may make a second trip for some of that.

I also got her bananas and some frozen berries for smoothies as well as mozzarella sticks for when she can move on to somewhat more solid foods.

You guys rock!

No hot stuff after pulling those teeth? Oh so that's why my face swelled up like a giant green pumpkin both times I had teeth pulled. Ugh.

I lived off of strawberry juice, consomme soups, tea, yoghurts and potato and leek soup. It took a while before soft sandwiches were anything I'd want.
