Sometimes you just don't know what you needed until you find it. [More:]After my mini-bender last night, my buddies decided to take me out to my first-ever NHL game tonight. (I used to play in a hockey league together with some of them.) And I couldn't have asked for a better game! How about a come-from-behind, empty net tying goal with 4 seconds left for the hometown team? Or six rounds of shootouts before our boys finally pulled through? There's nothing like sitting in the die-hard section, wearing a jersey and becoming instant friends with everyone else wearing one too, chanting "Avs suck!" in unison, and celebrating in the stands with hugs and high-fives once that last shot hit the net. Being part of a larger drama for a few hours was exactly what I needed. And how can you top hitting In-n-Out with the guys after a game?

So, anyone else have a good pick-me-up recently?
Live hockey games are the best thing ever.

Ditto live hockey. In Toronto, the prices are out of this world, so I attend the Leafs' farm team, Marlies or OHL. Small rinks, really close to the action is great and cheaper prices.
I'm a goaltender and play on 2 leagues and fill in on a 3rd. Playing more than 4 games a week, I'm totally addicted and don't get much opportunity to watch hockey on tv, because I'm on the ice.
Yeah, I'd cheer the Kings over the Avs and the Leafs¿ They suck./ Especially Brian McCabe, we can't get rid of him because of his contract. ouch.

I went to a retirement party for a very nice woman last night. She worked in several different stores over the years, so I was able to see people I haven't seen in ages. Mr. V drove, so I got schnockered. It was a blast. It's also nice to see someone walk out of work healthy and looking forward to (hopefully) a very long and happy retirement.
