Kitty! OMG! With 26 toes! oh noes! [More:]"Some cat owners say the innermost extra toes on the front paws are often opposable and some use them with quite startling proficiency to manipulate small objects with almost human dexterity."

Who else tried to figure out the math re:toes per foot before reading the article?

If any of them are opposable, humanity had better watch out.

I had a tuxedo cat with extra front toes that stuck out like thumbs. As you can probably guess, his name was Thumbs.

And may I say, I lurve the word "moggie". Why isn't American English cool enough to have a word like that?!

When I was a kid we also had a cat with six toes on each front foot. Like deborah said, the extra toes stood out like thumbs, so his feet looked like mittens. And tucked in between the thumb and "fingers", was another extra claw. He used to fetch, too. If you tossed a twisted pipe-cleaner, he'd chase it, and bring it back to you. When he got older, like 12 years or so, he learned to sit five feet from you and catch it in mid-air.
