The snow in Ohio...

And it's hell on the average gnome.

I wish I'd had my camera when I drove around yesterday. All the ice clinging to the trees...everything looked like chandeliers.

Looks nice, but it's all ice.

It's cold enough for snow here - but all we get is rain.

Howzabout a cliche colorado mountain beauty shot?

PS: Are there any plans for the right hand column in comments. I've noticed that it is placed over the middle column obstructing images that are wider than the middle column. Considering there is nothing in it I wonder if we could either eliminate it, make it transparent or place it under the middle column?

me3dia: I love the frost picture!

iconomy, that's one of my alltime faves of yours. Someday I hope to try the TTV technique. I don't comment a lot on your photostream but I lurk there a lot and stea... er, borrow quite a few ideas :]

shane the lawn gnome's plight and your commentary on same made me lol!

Thanks, lonefrontranger! I've been really lazy about taking photographs pretty much since Christmas, but I hope to step up my game a little as soon as it isn't 500 degrees below zero outside... ;P

Keep on stealing, baby!

ugh, ico the weather here has been abysmally cold and snowy. there's just something about single digit temperatures that makes me want to hibernate. I even missed a rare opportunity to shoot the snowcovered Indian Peaks by the light of the full moon last month because I just couldn't bring myself to dress up like an Arctic explorer and drag the tripod and all my gear the mile or so hike up Gunbarrel Hill Open Space at ten o' clock at night when it was eighteen below out.

Last weekend was the first time I'd had the Nikon outside for weeks and weeks as well. It's not just you.

From this winter:

(Click photo to see it larger and on black. It looks better that way, I think)

Rhode Island has gotten scant snow, and only recently some freezing rain. Boo.
So here is a picture I took last winter.

The first picture was taken in Kingston, where my university is located. Mostly rural area, lots of farms. The second picture was taken in Warwick, my hometown. It makes Warwick seem rural also, but I took it a few yards from the sidewalk along a very busy road. This house and barn/shed/thing are located right next to a hospital, too.

A couple of cameraphone shots of where I park. Technically, it's "indoor" parking, though it's really open on all four sides:

OMG, these are beautiful!!! I keep thinking of the Roamin' Gnome from the commercials, shane. And iconomy, your picture captures the crystal way the ice shines. And me3dia's frost, and mitheral's windbreak.. I like lonefrontranger's first two best, and arse_hat, what is that neat looking thing? CitrusFreak12, that house pic is amazing! Tommasz, how hard was the wind blowing to get the snow so far in?!! And deborah, well..WOW!!

Thanks guys :)

Deborah, those are super! I've never had much luck with photographing plants/trees and such. They all come out too busy, I think.

Arse_hat: What am I looking at in your photo?? Me3dia, that frost picture is awesome. LFR, I really like the mountain one, and the bike photos of course.

I really enjoy everyone's photos, actually.
Jeez this is a really good photo Friday!

It is a group of lions that are part of a fountain built for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. Someone put a scarf on them. Click through and look at it in large size to see the detail.

And yes some great pictures here. Wow.

Man, some really cool photos today. That monotone is really well done, deborah. Like lfr, I too am sick of the winter snow photos. I was out and about with the camera yesterday, and I didn't take any photos because it was "meh winter pics". I'll put up a couple I know some of you have already seen. I hope I haven't already posted them before. I guess not really weather photos, but winter pics.
