Augustus is canny, getting himself in a higher position than Livia on the couch. Things like that are important to cats.

Maybe it's a Big Orange Cat thing. First night we brought our two home, I'm lying on the couch watching the hockey game, and the big guy plops himself on my chest, à la WolfDaddy's Augustus. (The wee grey girl was just hiding under furniture; hissing and spitting and hating us.) Fourteen years later, big guy (minus an arm) is on my lap, grey girl is on the heating duct (within easy head-skritching distance). I think you're off to a good start.

I'm definitely going awwww, but mostly at the (sort of) functioning bureaucracy. I mean, yes, the cats are cuter, but thanks to essexjan I've become desensitized.
