They were preparing a bed for my mom and she had to interrupt the nuns (Catholic hospital) with, "I'm going to have this baby NOW." - the nurses ignored her. So mom stood up and my leg presented itself. (breech birth)
My dad also didn't believe my mom when she got him up because it was time to take her to the hospital, either. She'd been in labor with my brother for 36 hours so he figured he had more time. (She was in labor with me for about an hour.) He had the stomach flu at the time as well. When he finally got up, he took a bath, shaved, cut his self shaving and took extra time to go get band-aids (did not listen to my mother about the fact that duh the hospital would have bandages). Then on the way to the hospital he had to stop to puke a couple times.
(I love how it's men and nuns ignoring the pregnant lady about the need to have the baby.)
Similar thing when I was born, fluffy battle kitten. Mum was in labor for all of 45 minutes for me. She knew I was coming fast (I was her fourth) but no one believed her. The nurse was slowly getting mum to the maternity ward (to labor some more) and mum said that she'd better be taking her to delivery as I was crowning. After a quick peek, she got mum onto a gurney and hauled ass to the delivery room.
